Welcome to Your Dance Journey

Welcome to Your Dance Journey

Thank you for your interest in dancing with us.  I hope that you have faith in yourself and take the leap from what and where you are now to what you can become.  In all my years of teaching dance, I can't think of one person who didn't get something valuable out of their time with me - whether they spent 1 hour or 10 years dancing.  To learn to dance requires you to step outside of your comfort zone, put trust in someone else and do something you never thought you could do, but have always dreamed of.  And if you are the type of person who thinks, "Never in a Million Years" well, I've trained them to become champions.  I think most times we are resistant to it because we are afraid.  We are afraid to try it, afraid of looking foolish, afraid we might really fall in love with it, afraid we might actually be good at it.  To dance is to be vulnerable, and that's a scary thing.  To dance you must put yourself out there.  Nothing great comes from staying inside your comfort zone.  You may be safe and happy there, and it feels good.  But it's not great.  It could always be better.  I am reminded of a children's book that my wife and I read to our daughter every so often.  It's the story of Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watt.  Scaredy Squirrel never leaves his nut tree because he would rather stay with the Safe and Familiar rather than risking venturing out into the unknown.  One day a killer bee comes by and in a panic he knocks his emergency backup kit out of the tree - definitely not part of the plan!  He jumps out of the tree to catch his kit (which has his parachute in it by the way), he starts to glide instead of fall, and finds out that he is actually a Flying Squirrel!  Let's jump out of our trees and try something new today.
